Each unit in this book focuses on a different culture and includes geographic information, introduces the instruments, focuses on basic techniques for playing 1 or 2 of the instruments, presents characteristic rhythms, gives an ensemble piece and highlights special aspects of a particular rhythm with teaching suggestions to enable the performance.
A section on group percussion - process and performance - gives additional tips and suggestions for incorporating it into your classroom and extending it in performance.
Also included is a reproducible Rhyming Dialogue that can be used in performance to introduce the ensemble pieces.
The CD features authentic instruments and provides models of the specific rhythms and instruments as well as extended play-along jams.
