Purposeful Pathways Book 1: Possibilities for the Music Classroom
By Roger Sams and Beth Ann Hepburn
Spiral-bound Book

The book presents an eclectic approach for active music learning. Strategies from Dalcroze, Kodaly and Orff are incorporated in a developmental sequence offering elementary music educators diverse choices for how to present folk song material, including lessons in singing, literacy, movement, improvisation, composition and instrumental ensemble. The flexible design makes this resource adaptable to teachers of all levels of experience and in many teaching situations.

Curricular materials in Book 1 are organized by rhythmic and melodic concepts: steady beat, quarter note, two eighth notes, quarter rest, sol, mi, la and do.

A CD-ROM of SMART board visuals and PDF files of teaching manipulative materials for download and printing is available separately, part# 853173.

does this curriculum have assessments built in? and does it come in Promethean?
Sarah A on May 2, 2016
Best Answer: PP is a good curriculum resource.

At this time, the optional CD-ROMs do not have all Promethean Activinspire files. The one that corresponds to Book 3 does have Promethean files.

There are no labeled “assessments” but there are opportunities for improvisation and composition in most lessons.
