REMO’S key-tuned djembes have had great success as the most user friendly djembe in the world. With features like portability, tunability, durability, and playability it’s no wonder why it is the choice for thousands and thousands of professional and recreational drummers for years.

These Djembes feature the KinteKloth design FabriFinish. The djembe is the former "long distance phone" of West Africa. In Africa, the djembe now functions as a "healing" drum, used in many ceremonies, from weddings to funerals. Presently the djembe is the most popular African drum played in Europe. Based on the traditional djembe tone and form, combined with Remo's modern advances, these drums have a wide tonal range with crystal clear heights and a rich deep bass sound. Replacement heads can be special ordered. The Acousticon shell is manufactured from recycled hardwood fibers and is unaffected by climatic changes; the Fiberskyn 3 head gives an outstanding authentic ethnic drum sound.

Comes with a rope carrying handle and a tuning key.

Sizes:

10" x 24"

Replacement Heads:

Fiberskyn 3: Fiberskyn heads provides= a superb, authentic drum sound for maximum projection, lively overtones, and slap tones that are easy on  the hands. Fiberskyn heads are low maintenance and weather resistant.

Which is the better djembe for the classroom? The Remo 10" key-tuned djembe or the Overseas Connection Mali root-tuned 17-9.5" djembe.

I already have many tubanos and 1 Remo djembe that I like very much, but I was wondering about trying the overseas connection djembe. Is the Remo key tuned djembe easier to tune?
Janet L on Aug 8, 2012
Best Answer: Hi Janet,

This is my first djembe, and I love it! It is a perfect size for my K-3 classes, but it is also fine for older students. I would probably get the same if I want another. It depends if you want/need variety. Sorry i can't address the tuning issue.

Happy music making!

Best Answer: Our shipping tables are based on the dollar amount subtotal for the order. There are 4 sizes of this drum available, ranging in price from $160.40 for the smallest (10" head) to $247.55 for the largest (16" head).

Shipping for the 10" or 12" drum would be $15.95 (if the drum was the only item on the order). Shipping for the 14" or 16" drum would be 8% of the order subtotal.
