Rhythm Dice Games
By Lil Traquair and Denise Gagne
Game and dice
Grades 3 and up

Games to give students practice in naming note values, rhythm reading, and rhythm writing. The kit includes 7 student worksheets, directions for 10 games, 10 Scales and Slides game cards, 10 Race Track game cards, and 25 dice. The game cards are printed on colored cardstock, ideal for laminating; both the game cards and student worksheets are reproducible for the classes in one school.

It is suggested that the teacher begin with at least one of the worksheets as introduction or review. As the students learn note names and values, use the worksheets to extend and reinforce their learning. Each 6-sided die shows a note or rest on each side: quarter note, quarter rest, 2 eighth notes, half note, dotted half note, and whole note.
