Songs of All Time
World Around Songbook
Here are songs traditional to the Appalachian South, as well as folk songs from other parts of the world with which this area feels a particular cultural kinship. These songs and ballads have long been favorites in homes, schools and community centers throughout the area.
Folk songs and ballads exist never in one "original" version, but always in many and wide-spread variants. Francis James Child of Harvard University early in the 20th century first made an exhaustive comparative study of the ballads recorded at that time, mostly in England.
