Our Perspective

These fiberglass xylophones have great resonance at the right price!  My personal favorite as an education consultant is the alto xylophone as typically this voice is the real work horse of an Orff instrument or drumming ensemble.  The mallets on each of these instruments are really suited to bring the best sound quality out of each of them!  -Judy

Quality instruments at Budget saving prices.

These new xylophones now with fiberglass bars, provide the solid foundation for your Orff instrumentarium. The xylophone bars are are tuned to A=440, the industry standard and are also overtoned tuned.

The bass resonator box has divided chambers which also improve resonance. The stepping in the chambers enhances the sound to it's fullest.

All three voices include multiple layers of basswood on the resonator boxes provides durability and longevity. Maple veneer is on the outside and inside.

  • The exclusive Global Beat Bar bag which provides every xylophone and metallophone with an appropriately sized bag bag for safe storage of the F# and Bb bars. There is even a slot in which to put the mallets when it's time to store your instruments for the summer. The bag is securely closed bya Velcro tm strap.
  • Note names stamped in the middle of the bar and inside each resonator chamber. Bars are easy to put back in their proper places by note name labels inside the resonator box. Retaining pins on both xylophones and metallophones are made of durable and extra flexible materials. Long-lasting fabric cording is the cushion between the bar and the resonator box and won't dry out as typical rubber tubing does.
  • Multi Ply Resonator Box - use of multiple layers of basswood on the resonator boxes, provides durability ad longevity. Maple veneer outside and in.
  • Mallet Storage - every xylophone and metallophone comes with a handy place to store your mallets so they are ready for use when you need them. Xylophone and metallophone end pieces are attached with screws as well as glue to provide greater stability with moving.

I like the durability, and the sound is quite good for the materials used.

Durable and sounds great. Many years and countless students later, it still sounds beautiful.

Is this complete, without add ons. Are add ons needed? What do they do?
Thanks. AKB
Aykay B on Nov 12, 2012
Best Answer: Yes, it is complete with F# and Bb bars plus two mallets. I think it is a very good value and provides another contrasting sound to xylophones and metallophones.

HOpe that helps!

What is the difference between an Alto xylophone and a Soprano xylophone? Am I better off purchasing a few Alto and a few Soprano for my music classroom? As a pianist, I am baffled.
A shopper on Jul 9, 2015
Best Answer: As you see, Orff instruments come in different ranges. Alto xylophones range is middle C (on a piano) to an A the octave and a 6th above that). The alto xylophone is considered the mainstay of any Orff ensemble. Soprano xylophones range is the octave above middle C, to then the A and octave and 6th above that particular C. The soprano xylophones are used to add more color to the ensemble but as the bars become smaller as the notes get higher, not quite as easy to play by elementary aged students. If you need more assistance, please let us know.

Are the Sonor Global Beat instruments in tune with the Sonor Primary Rosewood Line? Would I be able to use a combination of both of these instrument lines in a performance?

Best Answer: They do ring more than the rosewood bars. I was informed that as a set, you should try to stay with continuity. All rosewood or all fiberglass. I'm not sure about the sound for a performance though.

This picture shows three separate instruments for the price given. Does it come with all three when you order?
A shopper on Jan 23, 2013
Best Answer: Until recently, the price on the main details page for these xylophones listed a range of prices - not just one price, so I am sorry for any confusion this has caused. Each instrument is purchased separately. If you click on the box under the words "Please select an option" you will get a drop-down list showing pricing and availability details for each of those three instruments.
