Our Perspective

The Series 1000 xylophones use Pao Rosa wood, and the bars may vary in color simply due to the differences in the tree the wood was sourced from. Mushc like hardwood flooring, you will see wide variations in color among the same wood species. The Studio 49 factory spends time matching the bars into sets with complementary color, but the very nature of the wood dictates there will be a range of color when a number of xylophones are set out side by side.

Series 1000 is a lightweight and easily portable series of xylophones and metallophones readily suited for an early childhood program in the home, school or church.  The resonator boxes are compact with integrated handles for easy movement--perfect for circle time activities.

The Alto xylophone includes 16 bars with a range of C to A'.  One pair of CS 44 mallet included.

  • 16 bars 32 x 18 mm made of Pao Rosa
  • Includes F# and Bb bars
  • Patented resonance box made of solid pine
  • Multiple resonance chambers for harmonic sound quality
  • Compact style with integrated handles
  • Fabric-coated bar seating for lasting durability
  • 1 Pair of CS 44 mallets included

BEST ANSWER: Yes, these bars are removable.
Are these instruments stackable for easy storage?
A shopper on Sep 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You can stack one on top of another, but I probably wouldn't go any higher than that. They're not made with stacking in mind, but you can safely put one on top of another.
What are the dimensions of the resonator box? Will this instrument fit on top of the Basic Beat rolling Orff tables?
A shopper on May 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The instrument is 27" long x 17" wide x 5" tall. It is too wide to fit on the Basic Beat rolling Orff table which is approximately 13" wide
Is this series equal in pitch and sound quality to the 1600 series?
Cindy N on Nov 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The bars of the 1000 and 1600 series are made out of the same material. This means that the pitch is equal and the sound quality is very close. The main difference is the size of the resonator boxes. However, the 1000 series has specially designed chambers to help promote the best possible resonance and sound quality.
