What is the difference between the 2000 series and the 1600 series (besides the price)?
A shopper on May 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The 2000 Series alto diatonic xylophone and 1600 Series diatonic xylophone are similar in that they share the same resonator box and mallets. The same resonator box and pair of mallets, allows the different bars to both resonate to their fullest ability. What’s different is the type of bars on each series. The 2000 xylophones all have Brazilian rosewood, which is the best quality of rosewood used on any Orff instrument for a full, warm sound. For the 1600 Series, Studio 49 uses African rosewood which means the overall sound brighter and not as resonant as the 2000 series.
Are replacement bars available for this and other Studio 49 Orff instruments?

Are the posts solid or flexible?
Maria W on Jun 20, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The pins that go through the xylophone bars are flexible rubber.
