Strategies, Songs and Listening Activities for the Music Substitute Teacher
By Lynne Carlstein
Book and CD
For grades 1-6
The first section of this book, Survival TIPS for Subs, offers a variety of valuable teaching tips to keep you prepared and organized. Read about the importance of "the notebook" and "lesson packs," as well as how to "work" a lesson plan and manage your classroom.
The second section, Survival SKILLS for Subs, has step-by-step lesson plans, some suggested for lower grades, some for upper grades and some for multi-grade levels. Some lessons have seasonal emphasis and others can be used most any time of the year. Many have writing or drawing projects with cross-curricular connections.
Reproducible activity sheets and puzzles and lyric sheets for 20 songs are included. The enclosed CD offers professionally-produced recordings of all the songs used in the lessons so students can sing-along.
