I am looking for my granddaughter, she is a beginner and 12 years old. She wants them to just sit around and hang out.
Are these appropriate?

BEST ANSWER: they are great bongos, however one issue is that their little legs mean you can not play them on your lap. I would suggest maybe finding ones that have a flat surface to play them on your lap to encourage more use of them.
