The Ultimate Game and Activity Pack for Orchestra By Artie Almeida Game pack with teacher's guide booklet, flashcards and CD Grades 3 - 6 A collection of 4 unique ways to help teach your students about the orchestra: Orchestra Flash Cards, to teach and reinforce a variety of terms; Orchestra Concentration game based on the terms learned with the flash cards; Instrument Families of the Orchestra game to incorporate listening to and identifying specific instruments; and Clip the Instruments game for aural and visual recognition of instruments. The pack includes cardstock pieces for all the activities (it is suggested that these pieces be laminated for durability); a CD of instrumental excerpts; and a teacher's guide booklet with specific lesson plans for all activities, listening library suggestions, suggested websites for students, and a list of the National Standards addressed. 

Activity descriptions:
Orchestra Flash Cards: 11 cards teach and reinforce a variety of orchestra terms; comes with two cards per 8.5" x 11" sheet, for you to cut apart (includes one blank card). Terms with illustrations are printed on one side, with a brief definition and a longer detailed explanation on the other side. Terms covered: Brass Family, Percussion Family, String Family, Woodwind Family, Conductor, Orchestra, Concertmaster/ Concertmistress, Composer, Warm-Up, Tuning, and Encore.   

Orchestra Concentration: twenty 8.5" x 11" cards have either a term or a description; with the cards face down, students turn over 2 at a time trying to find a match.   

Instrument Families of the Orchestra: thirty 8.5" x 11" cards with String, Woodwind, Percussion, and Brass sections, and 1master sheet of 20 instruments to be reproduced and cut into game pieces.

I chose this because I trust Artie's work. Everything she's done has been fantastic and I know the examples of the instruments playing will be fantastic and very easy to tell apart from each other for my younger students.
