The Quisca Cactus, which provides the magical body for the rainstick, grows in the Atacama desert at the foothills of the Andes.
To make a rainstick, the spines are removed, turned around and inserted into the cactus, which is then filled with pebbles of different sizes.
If you turn the cactus instrument around the pebbles flow over the spines at different speeds, creating the sound of falling rain.
