Features various ensemble options throughout the book -a song may have the main melody, optional duet part and several optional ostinato parts listed. Includes international folk songs, a variety of styles (jazz, country swing, reggae, etc.) and music of early times (12th century, etc.). Familiar songs will often have a verse or two of the lyrics listed; a few foreign language songs give a verse of the original lyrics with a singable translation underneath.
Each song lists related CD tracks; many also include a short note on the musical style used for the accompaniment. Short notes on various musical concepts (slur, tonality, improvisation, canon, 1st and 2nd endings, etc.) are interspersed throughout the book. Also includes a 2-page music signs and symbols dictionary, a 4-page music terms dictionary, a 2-page rhythm pattern dictionary, and English (baroque) and German fingering charts.
The included CD features classic and contemporary instruments; many songs have both a solo and an accompaniment track.
