The Sabian Cymbal Vote is coming to Coralville! This awesome event allows drummers from the region to weigh in and help determine what new models Sabian will introduce in 2014. Sabian has long been known for its innovation in cymbals and has been an excellent partner with West Music. Each year Sabian develops more cool new ideas than they can introduce as new products in a single year, so they've we decided to let the customers and players decide! You can see the 12 cymbal candidates on cymbalvote.com, where sabian has also included dozens of videos featuring great drummers. The drummers also give the chance to hear the cymbals in several musical settings and even hear their comments on how each performs.

West Music and Pearl Drums have partnered to bring Gene Hoglan to present his evening master class at the Iowa City Yacht Club that evening. Get a chance to meet this legendary metal drummer in person before the clinic at West Music in Coralville.
The Meet and Greet is FREE! Be sure to get there early and on time so we have plenty of time before he needs to head downtown.
Legendary metal drummer Gene Hoglan will be presenting "The Gene Hoglan Experience" - a FREE drum clinic for rock and metal drummers in the Eastern Iowa area!
Gene Hoglan (also known as "The Atomic Clock" and "The Human Drum Machine") is one of the greatest drummers in metal, and has served as the drummer for the Metalocalypse band Dethklok, Strapping Young Lad, Testament, Death, Unearth, Fear Factory, and a slew of other legendary brutal acts.
Presented by Pearl Drums and West Music, Gene's clinic will focus on his style, techniques, methods and tips, and focus on a wide range of material including past and present projects.
For this clinic, Gene will feature material from Death's classic album, "Individual Thought Patterns". After the hour-long clinic, there will be a Q&A session to ask the master anything you wish. THE CLINIC IS COMPLETELY FREE!
Stick around after the clinic for face-melting punishment from Madison's Droids Attack and Iowa City's own Aseethe and In the Mouth of Radness.

Eugene "Gene" Victor Hoglan II (born August 31, 1967 in Dallas, Texas) is an American drummer. He is acclaimed for his creativity in drum arrangements, including usage of odd devices for percussion effects and his trademark lengthy double-kick drum rhythms. His highly technical playing is extremely accurate at very high and challenging tempos, earning him the nicknames "The Atomic Clock" and "Human Drum Machine."He is best known for his work with acts Dark Angel, Death, Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend, Fear Factory, Opeth, Unearth, and most recently Dethklokand Testament. Hoglan recently completed work on Dethklok's third album Dethalbum III, which was released in October 2012. He has released the highly successful Gene Hoglan: The Atomic Clock DVD, and has rejoined Testament to record the drum tracks for their tenth album, entitled Dark Roots of Earth, which was released in July 2012, debuting at #12 on Billboard and #9 on the World Charts.
Hoglan was featured on the cover of Modern Drummer magazine November 2010. He also won Terrorizer magazine's Reader's Poll for Best Drummer 2010, and Modern Drummer magazine nominated Hoglan for Best Metal Drummer, and Best Recorded Performance (for Dethklok's Dethalbum II) on their 2011 ballot. He was nominated for Best Drummer in Revolver magazine's 2010 Reader's Poll.
