Description
A Tapestry of Tales 8 Musical Stories from Around the World
By Cristi Cary Miller and Jennifer Bennett
Book
63 pages
A cross curricular resource perfect for the classroom or the stage. 8 interactive stories are enhanced with musical sound effects for added color and vision while teaching an important lesson to all who participate and listen. Various musical motifs are used for characters and events throughout the stories. Teaching tips for each story list the materials needed, suggested instruments, and ideas for introducing, teaching, and dramatizing and performing the material. Also includes reproducible story pages with picture icons showing the sound effects, reproducible pages of motifs and sounds, and reproducible voice and instrument parts for the original song that relates to each story (exception: The Raccoon & the Bee Tree does not have a related song).
The related songs use piano, Orff instruments, and some unpitched percussion. Ideas are also given for substitute instruments to use for the motifs in each story – for example, if you don't have Orff instruments you may be able to use Boomwhackers or tone chimes instead.
For grades 1 to 6.
