All Around the Buttercup

"All Around the Buttercup" is a collection of folk songs arranged for young children's first experience with Orff instruments. Poems, rhymes, and games are included with most of the arrangements. Suggestions for movement and vocal/instrumental improvisation, as well as hints for teaching, are given. New pitch and rhythm concepts, pitch patterns and instrumental techniques are listed above the song where they first appear. Materials are organized sequentially, with notes, rhythms and techniques introduced one at a time.
Instruments used: soprano and alto glockenspiel; soprano, alto, and bass xylophone; alto and bass metallophone; hand drum; finger cymbals; tambourine; triangle; ratchet; guiro; claves; 2 dulcimers parts for one song.
