On the left, the West Music logo is prominently displayed above the text: “West Music is on the Road to California!” On the right, a white map of the U.S. over a red and multicolored background highlights the featured presenters: “Paul Corbière & Melissa Blum Present Drumming and More in the PreK and Elementary Music Room!” Below the map, tour stops and dates are listed: San Diego – July 21, Valencia – July 23, Sacramento – July 25.

Mark your calendars—West Music is headed back to California this summer for more workshop and pop-up store opportunities! Whether it’s your first, fifth, or fifteenth year of teaching, come spend a day getting a jumpstart on fantastic active-music-making experiences for your students!

Join us for Drumming and More in the PreK and Elementary Music Room! at three locations:

  • July 21: Learning Labs, 6401 Linda Vista Road, San Diego
  • July 23: Remo, Inc (Recreational Music Center) 28101 Industry Drive, Valencia
  • July 25: Tim's Music 6818 Fair Oaks Blvd Carmichael, Carmichael

Paul and Melissa will take participants on a hands-on journey to explore activities and extensions for use with PreK-5th grade students, including introductory information from the World Music Drumming Curriculum. Explore pedagogical concepts of the curriculum and experience ready-to-use lessons, including exploratory and foundation-building activities, ensembles with singing and movement, sound stories, skill-building games, and program ideas. Using drums, percussion, and other classroom instruments - such as Orff instruments, recorder, ukulele - and the curriculum key words of respect, listen, focus, teamwork, complement, and more, we will show how group drumming in the preK through elementary classroom helps students not only become stronger music students, but stronger students in all aspects of learning and better members of a cooperative classroom community.

Our pop-up store will be accompanied by Liz Hartley, a West Music Sales Consultant. She will help you discover how to best outfit your classroom.
