Shop Gongs at West Music
West Music is proud to offer a wide assortment of Dream, Sabian and Zildjian gongs which vary in style and sound. Two of the most popular types included in our collection are the Feng gong and Chau gong. The first, also known as the wind gong, is loved for both its gentle and roaring sound capabilities. The second, commonly referred to as a "Tam-tam", is a more traditional option that is often associated with the symphonic gong. Both types are available in sizes both large and small. Add some dramatic percussion and worldliness to your orchestra or classroom with our gong musical instruments.
Initially used as part of religious rituals and ceremonies in China, the Gong is in fact the world's oldest musical instrument. Made from bronze, gongs are now an integral part of a modern symphony orchestra and are highlighted in many different styles of music from traditional eastern to progressive rock. Gongs come in a number of different styles to suit individual players' needs. Wind gongs (also known as Feng gongs) produce a whooshing tonal note, while others yield the recognized "crash" sound to indicate dramatic tension in the music.
Due to the type of music, rock drummers may choose a Feng gong to add to their kit, whilst those creating orchestral music may choose a Tam Tam gong (otherwise known as a Chau gong), with the characteristic ‘crash.’ At West Music, we can outfit any ensemble with a diverse range of sizes and shapes. We have gongs from Dream, Sabian, and Zildjian, among others for the best gongs available.
