Jamtown J0143 10x5 Inch Talking Drum

Hand made in Ghana, West Africa, this Jamtown J0143 10x5 Inch Talking Drum is covered in various styles of Kintekloth fabric and made with goat skin heads. The talking drum originated in Nigeria. Historically, talking drum masters sent messages, held conversations, and talked to the spirits with the hourglass-shaped drum. Squeezing the drum or pulling its strings are two of the many techniques used to produce the talking drum's characteristic rhythms and melodies. The Talking Drum is played with a mallet (included). This drum is a good size for children and adults at 10" x 5". Since this instrument is hand made with natural materials, no two will look or sound exactly alike.
