John W. Schaum Piano Course, Pre-A: The Green Book

John Schaum’s Piano Course has been a staple for decades. Each book in this series helps the piano student develop fundamental skills with books full of folk, traditional, and classical music.

The Green Book is for the absolute beginner. It introduces the musical alphabet, notes, how fingers are numbered, and sharps and flats. At the beginning of the book one handed playing is utilized in both treble and bass clef; by the end of the book students will play right-hand melodies with two-note harmony in the left hand.
