Meet the Great Jazz Legends Short Sessions on the Lives, Times, Music of the Great Jazz Legends By Ronald McCurdy Deluxe Set: book, reproducible activity sheets and CD 72 pages (Teacher book) Tells the stories of 17 legendary jazz artists who have enriched our lives with their incredible music. These 17 units are designed to give students an appreciation and understanding of the jazz legends whose music they play and listen to. Each unit has includes a picture of the jazz legend, fact box, suggested listening selections, the story of the legend's life, a study of his/ her music with insight about the time or place the jazz legend lived, and a question and answer page for review in the form of a game or puzzle. Each unit is designed to be complete in a 20-30 minute session that can be modified to fit any teaching situation. The featured jazz artists span the entire 20th century, from Louis Armstrong to Herbie Hancock. The included copy-permissible activity sheets have a composer profile, picture of legend, and a word search, crossword, or word scramble that uses fill-in-the-blank fact sentences for clues.
