In addition to traditional curriculum, music method books are a perfect addition in allowing student musicians to further develop and hone skills. Teachers find these music instruction books filled with helpful exercises, etudes, and recital pieces to enhance student's technical playing knowledge. The books and accompanying video and audio elements make practicing fingering, dynamics, articulation, and tempo more enjoyable for the student following along.

West Music stocks traditional print method books, along with other collections of or contemporary pieces that include a CD recording of the pieces or a play-along CD. The play-along books are a great way to motivate students to keep practicing as they simulate performing. Some modern method books even include DVDs that turn practice sessions into an interactive multimedia experience.

Music instruction books are available for different styles of play – from jazz to string and everything in between. There are additional resources in each method book with listening exercises, composition lessons, music theory instruction, music history, rhythm charts, and exercises to develop reading skills.
