Purposeful Pathways 1 (Book/Online Resources)
The Purposeful Pathways series of elementary music curriculum books, by Roger Sams and Beth Ann Hepburn presents an eclectic approach for active music learning. Strategies from Dalcroze, Kodaly and Orff are incorporated in a developmental sequence offering elementary music educators diverse choices for how to present folk song material, including lessons in singing, literacy, movement, improvisation, composition and instrumental ensemble. The flexible design makes this resource adaptable to teachers of all levels of experience and in many teaching situations.
Curricular materials in Book 1 are organized by rhythmic and melodic concepts: steady beat, quarter note, two eighth notes, quarter rest, sol, mi, la and do.
Access to online files of hands-on manipulatives to be reproduced for classroom use is included. A CD-ROM of SMART board visuals is available separately, item# 530632.
