Piano Town, Technic, Level 1

Piano Town is an elementary piano method series that uses a multi-key approach to learning by focusing on interval reading skills. Musical terms, concepts, rhythms, and key signatures are gradually and progressively introduced, helping students focus on new skills and information.

Piano Town consists of five levels (primer, levels 1-4), and within each level there are four core books: Lessons, Theory, Technic, and Performance. Christmas and Halloween books supplement each level.

Piano Town Level 1 begins with a review of concepts learned in the primer level. After this, key signatures and I and V7 chords for C, F and G Major are introduced. Playing is all done in 5-finger positions but includes position changes within pieces. Music concepts introduced are: crescendo and diminuendo, mp and mf, 8va higher and lower, accent, natural sign, dotted quarter notes, and the damper pedal.
