The Series 1000 xylophones use Pao Rosa wood, and the bars may vary in color simply due to the differences in the tree the wood was sourced from. Much like hardwood flooring, you will see wide variations in color among the same wood species. The Studio 49 factory spends time matching the bars into sets with complementary color, but the very nature of the wood dictates that there will be a range of color when a number of xylophones are set out side by side.
Here is a lightweight and easily portable group of Orff instruments with a totally new design. The resonator boxes are compact with integrated handles for easy movement, perfect for circle time activities
The xylophone bars are made of African rosewood.. The Studio 49 1000 Series Orff instruments are good options for the budget minded classroom, church or home.

I ordered 2 of these SX1000 instruments and if you're looking to stretch your budget with quality instruments, look no further. The 1000 series blends with their siblings of the 2000 series. The form factor is great and some of my students prefer this over the traditional form of the other series.
