Description
Sing We Now Merrily A Collection of Elizabethan Rounds from Ravenscroft Selected and edited by Edward Bolkovac Book 96 pages, Thomas Ravenscroft (c. 1582-1635) was an English theorist, composer and editor who is most remembered today for his 3 collections of rounds and part songs entitled Pammelia, 1609: Deutromelia, 1609; and Melismata, 1611. Most of the rounds in this collection are from Pammelia, 1609. There are anonymous sacred pieces in Latin, English and French as well as a wide variety of English secular songs on the topics of drinking, love, love's adventures and misadventures, war, singing, money, and;street vendor cries. Many would be excellent for performance at a madrigal dinner. A few would work with children's choirs.
