Nuvo was founded in 2008 with a mission to “enable kids from all walks of life to experience the power of making music.” Nuvo creates instruments designed to minimize the hurdles that can keep students from learning when they first start an instrument. Hence, they have a positive experience and want to upgrade to a traditional band instrument when the time comes to join the band.
Nuvo instruments can be used in a variety of ways with general music students. Here are a few ideas:
- Offer a Nuvo instrument to a recorder student who needs a challenge!
- Create a Nuvo ensemble with a few students (all Nuvo instruments are in C, awesome, right?)
- Introduce Nuvo after teaching recorder to keep instrumental skills fresh before band starts

NOTE: These instruments are not designed to replace band instruments but bridge the gap between elementary music and band, or simply keep kids playing music after they learn recorder or other elementary instruments.
jFlute 2.0 Standard Kit
The jFlute is the perfect first flute choice for ages 4 to 10. It plays fully chromatically with standard flute fingering down to low D. It can be easily upgraded with the jFlute Upgrade Kit (not included) which includes a straight head joint and C foot joint. The jFlute comes with the patented Firstnote lip plate as well as the standard lip plate.
The upgraded jFlute 2.0 includes a number of exciting improvements, such as improving the feel and performance of the springs as well as the addition of silicone touch pads for the keys. This gives a comfortable feel under the fingers and avoids any possible nickel allergy problems.
Nuvo also improved the jFlute head joint by replacing the curved head with the new innovative “donut” head joint. The “donut” is a neat solution that still shortens the reach while keeping the embouchure hole in line with the keys. This helps young starters to keep the flute balanced while also making it much easier to set up the flute for each lesson. You will be surprised and thrilled by the resonant tone from the “donut”.
The new jFlute 2.0 also includes key extensions to help small fingers and a brand new case which is smaller and easier to carry for the young flautist!
