What to Teach When is a thoughtful and engaging music curriculum. Following an elemental approach, the curriculum for What to Teach When Gr 2 – 3A targets developmentally appropriate skills that every second and third-grade student should master in the areas of melody, rhythm, form, timbre, and texture. The lessons and repertoire have been carefully selected and sequenced so that concepts are spiraled and built upon with each new piece. Samples of fully processed lesson plans and assessments are included at the end of each grade-level section. Brian and Don have also provided all of their visual aids used in teaching these pieces. The visual aids are available in full color on the included CD-ROM and may be projected or printed. You will need a PDF reader, such as Adobe Reader to access the digital files. This resource builds on the concepts introduced in the kindergarten through first-grade volume of the What to Teach When curriculum (# 843759).
