Includes excerpts from the following: 4th Movement from Symphony #4 (Tchaikovsky),Dance of the Merlitons from Nutcracker Suite (Tchaikovsky), Don Juan (R. Strauss), Serenade for Strings (Tchaikovsky; a look at the string family), 3rd Movement from Symphony #4 (Tchaikovsky; demonstrates pizzicato playing), All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera (Andrew Lloyd Webber; shows the passion of the sound of the strings), Le Sacre de Printemps (Stravinsky; shows the nasty, aggressive sound of the strings), The Lion Sleeps Tonight from The Lion King (Elton John; features the woodwind family), 1st Movement from Symphony #4 (Tchaikovsky; features the brass family), Fiddle Faddle (Anderson; features percussion &; harp), Waltz of the Flowers from Nutcracker Suite (Tchaikovsky), Cuban Overture (Gershwin; features percussion, and also shows student pictures that were drawn in response to listening to this piece), 4th Movement from Symphony #4 (Tchaikovsky; shows the power of the sound of the orchestra).

Excellent Intro to Instruments Video
The Dallas SO did a phenomenal job with this video. They had all the families performing different styles and you could actually see the instruments perform. All the instruments were introduced, but the String family played as a whole instead of each separate of the family.<br />They played a good variety of music, but did used a lot of Tchaikovsky. <br />My students prefered this over any other instrument video I have
