To assist with this mission, the included enhanced CD contains manipulatives, play-along tracks (as well as performance tracks), reproducible worksheets, and assessment rubrics. The authors approach music literacy through the listen-speak-read-write continuum. "Speak" becomes singing and/or playing instruments. The instruments used include alto glockenspiels or resonator bells, bass xylophone or metallophone, temple blocks, and classroom rhythm instruments. Writing music in this continuum is arranging and composing as well as copying notation.
