Freddie the Frog, Eli the Elephant, Babs Baboon and Micki Macaw join trumpet-playing elephants, trombone-sliding tigers, clarinet-playing monkeys and a flock of seagulls as they scat sing, swing and perform collective improvisation in this swingin' introduction to jazz.
The 25-minute musical for 2nd-5th grade students includes five original songs and dialog with 26 speaking parts. It also includes unique "beginner band student" adaptations, giving students a chance to squawk, buzz and growl on stage as they argue about who's the best. Sharing their combined talent, the animal friends discover embracing each other's differences creates the ultimate jungle jam.
The Teacher Book includes piano accompaniments, dialog, detailed production guide and jazz terms and background. The enclosed Singer CD-ROM provides reproducible and projectable singer parts, and printable jazz combo charts. Choose from a variety of performance options. The Performance/Accompaniment CD features authentic New Orleans jazz accompaniment tracks by the N'Awlins Gumbo Kings, recorded instrumental solos to scat sing along with and tracks without recorded solos for scatting student-created phrases.This musical is unique in offering an additional option. Jazz organizations can use this musical as a resource for jazz day camps, workshops, and afterschool programs. The combination of accompaniment recordings and a live combo create a rich learning experience in jazz.

AWESOME EXPERIENCE
My kids loved this and it was the first boughten musical I have ever done. VERY easy to direct and the kids really enjoyed the songs. They are still singing them down the hallways after the concert. I hope she writes more!
