Kutamba!African and Jamaican Inspired Songs for the Diatonic Orff EnsemblesBy Jane LambBook and CD-ROMGrades 4-5
Get your audience on the edge of their seat and tapping their toes with these new high-energy Orff ensemble pieces by Jane Lamb. There are seven pieces in the style of the marimba music of Zimbabwe, Africa, and five pieces in the style of the marimba music of Jamaica. All pieces are diatonic and in either the key of C or G. Each has its own performance suggestion for the form. Three of the Jamaican pieces also have lyrics. Scored for Orff instruments, drums, and hand-held percussion, students in fourth- and fifth-grade Orff ensembles can easily learn these creative works and will love performing them in concert.
