Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears is based on a West African pourquoi, or "why" story. A pourquoi story provides a fanciful explanation for a common occurrence - in this case, why mosquitoes buzz aournd our ears! This rendition of the story is told through narration, dialogue, and songs featuring both piano and Orff instrument accompaniment. The CD has audio files, digital files and digital templates.
There are 3 speaking roles for individual students and lines for up to 20 narrators. You will need 5 classes (or groups). All students sing the songs. Each group is assigned to one of the animal families.
Songs: Funga Alafia, Such Lies You Tell, Why Won't the Agamas Speak to Us? , Hurry Hurry, Sound a Warning, Sunbird's Lament, Bwana Awabariki/Rise Sun Rise, Did You Ever Wonder?

Amazing Musical!
I highly recommend this musical. I taught it over a period of 3 months to my third and fourth grade students. The fourth grade students were responsible for the Orff instrumentation, narrating, and acting. My third grade students were responsible for learning the dances.

My students enjoyed this so much, and we received many compliments from parents and teachers. The kindergarten students even wanted to learn the songs and dances. The only issue is that I do not know how I'm going to top it next year!!!
