Recorder Connections
By Paul Bakeman
Book and CD
48 pages
A beginning soprano recorder method book for group or individual use. 24 fun songs feature clever, interesting accompaniments on the included CD (CD also has 5 tracks for rhythm practice). Two tracks are given for each song: a demonstration track with recorder and accompaniment and a performance track with just the accompaniment part. Original melodies and familiar folk songs are used; the songs are full-length (not just 10-20 seconds long). Unaccompanied exercises and familiar songs review important concepts and provide an opportunity for students to have extra practice on progressively more difficult passages.
The recorder part for the first song uses only the note B, while the last song uses every note presented throughout the text. The songs are in a wide variety of styles, including Celtic, Calypso, Reggae, Blues, Latin and other contemporary styles. Notes throughout the book introduce more musical terms or give information on world cultures and historical events. The book pages may be reproduced for use with the purchaser's students; the CD is not reproducible but is available separately by itself (item 850189) for home practice use.
For grades 4 to 5 and up.
