Global Beat resonator boxes are constructed from durable basswood and feature multiple sound chambers to enhance resonance.
Each Global Beat xylophone includes a bar bag and a pair of mallets. Use the bar bag to store mallets as well as accidental bars. Note names are conveniently stamped in the middle of each bar and on the inside of the resonator box.
Retaining pins are constructed from durable and flexible materials. Global beat instruments utilize fabric cording meaning the bar supports won't dry out and crack like standard rubber tubing.

Nice instrument, not really a xylophone
I have had this instrument in my classroom for a few years now. It has a nice sound, and it has held up well (the mallets, not so much). However, it's really not a xylophone. It's also not a metallophone. I'd classify it as somewhere in between. It's tone definitely rings longer than a wood bar, but not as long as a metal bar. As for value and adding instruments to a classroom, it's definitely a good purchase but if you are looking for a true xylophone tone, go with wood bars.
