The workbook contains exercises;and games for doing at home and in the music lesson. It is directly integrated with the work in the Elemental Recorder Playing student book (item 812613, available separately). The purposes of these lessons are to develop a basis of readiness and experience of many types and to stimulate musical and creative behavior. Development of recorder skills is integrated with movement, singing, improvisation, use of accompaniments and ear training skills.
Lessons that should be approached only with the help of the teacher are marked with an *, since that material should be experienced in the context of a live encounter. Examples include drawing the curve of a melody the teacher plays, speaking a text and clapping on the stressed syllables and writing the rhythm of a spoken text.
Other lessons such as creating a four-bar phrase to clap, composing a melody or determining the meter of a text can be homework.
For ages 6 to 9 (2nd grade at the earliest).
Note progression: high C, A, high D, G, E, D, B, C, F.
