The LP Black Beauty cowbell is perhaps the most used bell in history for the "basic" sound. It was designed to have a high-pitched, bright sound with a moderate overtone and a slightly rounded playing surface to make it easy to get a good sound for every stroke. Unlike traditional cowbells used on the farm, this instrument does not have a clapper inside. The Black Beauty Senior was built slightly larger with a wider mouth and is tuned a full step lower than its namesake.
