NUVO Dood 2.0, Black/Green

Nuvo was founded in 2008 with a mission to “enable kids from all walks of life to experience the power of making music.” Nuvo creates instruments designed to minimize the hurdles that can keep students from learning when they first start an instrument. Hence, they have a positive experience and want to upgrade to a traditional band instrument when the time comes to join the band.

Nuvo instruments can be used in a variety of ways with general music students. Here are a few ideas:

• Offer a Nuvo instrument to a recorder student who needs a challenge!
• Create a Nuvo ensemble with a few students (all Nuvo instruments are in C, awesome, right?)
• Introduce Nuvo after teaching recorder to keep instrumental skills fresh before band starts
• Create a Nuvo ensemble with your faculty

NOTE: These instruments are not designed to replace band instruments but to bridge the gap between elementary music and band or simply keep kids playing music after they learn recorders or other elementary instruments.

DooD

The Nuvo DooD is a brand new concept for single-reed music education. A natural next step for a child playing the recorder, the DooD is a great way to introduce single-reed skills at an early age. With its mellow clarinet-like sound, it makes a great addition to any recorder ensemble.

The DooD has recorder-like fingering with a simple yet durable key system that helps small fingers cover the holes. The instrument is in the key of C and is fully chromatic over one octave with extra notes in the second register. There are 100’s of tunes you can play with the DooD and you can find many familiar and new ones in WindStars.

The DooD uses the same mouthpiece and reed system as the Clarinéo. Two Nuvo resin reeds a fingering chart and a case are included.

The instrument is easy and inexpensive to maintain and is 100% washable in warm soapy water. This makes them ideal in school programs where children might be sharing instruments.
