Unhappy with his shoulder rest, Michael Kimber began to experiment with creating his own design based on the actual slope and curve of the human shoulder. After a period of testing out various foams and densities and perfecting the cut and shape, the poly-pad was finally born. His design quickly caught on regionally with his students and colleagues. Now over 30 years later, Kimber's poly-pad is loved by musicians around the globe. Others have attempted to imitate the poly-pad, but these cheap imitations are quickly discarded.
