Insert Rings Options – Three different insert rings are available that help provide greater tuning consistency, sustain, and projection.
 
RA - Aluminum Insert Ring:
Low Aluminum insert rings accommodated early hand screw drums allowing the tuning handle to reach the receiver. The aluminum insert corrected the rusting that occurred over time from the raw steel insert rings supplied by some early timpani drums.
 
SA –Steel Insert Rings:
Original high Steel Insert Rings were developed by Claude Duff and Lloyd McCausland. They offer more rigidity and strength to the flesh hoop and produce 40% more sound from the drum.
LA – Low-Profile Steel Insert Rings (most popular):
Low-Profile insert rings are the latest improvement accommodating all models of timpani. They are twice as thick offering more rigidity and strength to the flesh hoop and making it easier to tune the drum – leveling it off as well as improving the projection. The low-profile steel insert ring is anodized preventing any rust for the life of the head.
