Strike It Rich!

"Strike It Rich!" by Jeff Kriske and Randy DeLelles is a collection of 20 mallet activities that focus on a specific skill or objective involving barred percussion instruments. For each lesson, teaching processes and aims as well as suggested grade levels are provided.

The first section of this book focuses on timbre (activities that explore the instruments, classify them into families and build technique). The second section focuses on rhythm, melody, and harmony, illustrating how barred instruments can be used to support objectives in this area. The third section includes three performance pieces with extended forms and suggestions for movement. Many of the activities include visuals that you may reproduce for use in your classroom.
