Welcome in the Spring
Description
Welcome in the Spring – Morris and Sword Dances for Children with optional Orff instrument settings
Compiled, anotated and arranged by Paul Kerlee
Book and 2 CDs
66 pages
All dances are traditional, and came to America from England at the turn of the century. Morris dances are from southern England (probably originated in Spain - the Moors), are performed primarily in the spring, and were not written down until the early 1900's. Sword dances originated in northern England and were usually performed midwinter. Includes dance instructions, Orff instrument settings, and context.
One CD has performances by Morris musicians; the other has the pieces again using Orff instruments.
