World Music Drumming: New Ensembles And Songs (A Cross-Cultural Curricular Supplement)

Sometimes referred to as "The Red Book", "New Ensembles and Songs" is cross-cultural curricular supplement to the ever popular World Music Drumming curriculum by Will Schmid. This book expands the drumming spectrum to include new culture areas and contemporary drumming styles. All pieces and songs have been kid-tested by students in grades 3-12, and focus on the teamwork approach to learning West African and Caribbean drum ensembles and songs.

Each piece gives the written notation of each part, related CD track, learning sequence and notes on singing the suggested song and how to combine with the percussion parts, notation of the vocal parts (some also give chord letters), supplementary strategies, and teaching tips. The included CD provides a model and can be used for play-alongs.
