International Sound Stories (Folk Tales, Fables, and Poems for the Music Classroom)

International Sound Stories encourages active listening, involved participation, and makes cultural connections for functional fun in the general classroom! This useful collection includes 20 folk tales, fables, and poems that have been chosen from a variety of countries with rich storytelling traditions including India, Korea, Mexico, Ireland, Germany, Ghana, and more. Each song tale includes sound effects, melodic patterns, and rhythmic patterns for sound exploration using common classroom instruments. You may choose to read and play as written, use them as inspiration for student creation (such as curated playlists or digital compositions), or even use them as a resource for interdisciplinary work. Each story also includes a PDF to project or print. Recommended for grades 1-6.
